ROBOLABTM Video Trainer System Requirements
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

1. Windows 98 or later
(Windows 98, ME, XP, NT, 2000)
   OR
   Macintosh OS 10.0 or later.
(Macintosh OS 9.2 will run some of the ROBOLAB Video Trainer's features.)

2. Internet Explorer 5.0 or later
    OR
    Netscape Version 6.0 or later
(free downloads of the latest browser versions are available on the internet)

3. Javascript enabled (the default setting on new browsers)

4. Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 (the Player and installation instructions are provided,
as well as a means for determining whether you need to install it.)

5. All "Pop-Up Blockers" must be disabled.

Pop Up Blockers
The ROBOLAB Video Trainer is designed to operate within your web browser (such as Internet Explorer). Pop-up blockers work in the background while you browse: when they detect a pop-up window, they automatically close the window. If you or someone who uses your computer has taken steps to block pop-up ads in your browser, it may disable some key javascript functionality in this CD-Rom. Many pop-up blocker (or pop-up killer) programs will let you temporarily disable them. Some require that you remove them. You will have to review your own system and software to find out whether the program can be disabled or must be removed.

How to Use
Be sure to review the How to Use page clickable from the startup menu for information about how best to use the ROBOLAB Video Trainer.

Screen or Display Resolution
Screen resolution of 1024 X 768 is recommended.

800 x 600 can also be used, but some material near the bottom may be hidden. On a PC, press the "F11" key to maximize and center the Video Trainer on your monitor. On a Mac, click the small green button at the upper left corner of your browser window.

A 640 x 480 screen setting will hide some of the content near the bottom. Other sizes may render the interface too small and less legible. Test your own system if you prefer to work at a different screen setting.

"Rotation Sensor" vs. "Angle Sensor"
All references to the "Rotation Sensor" included in this product refer to a LEGO® part that is also identified as an "Angle Sensor". They are one and the same.

LEGO® Mindstorms® Kits
You will need at least one LEGO Mindstorms Team Challenge Set. Click here to purchase online, or call 1-800-362-4308.
Note that although this product is built around use of the LEGO Mindstorms Team Challenge Set, some content may feature the use of LEGO parts that are not included with or not colored the same as the parts in the kit.

ROBOLAB™ Software
You will need to install ROBOLAB programming software. Click here to purchase online, or call 1-800-362-4308.

MLCAD
MLCAD is the versatile graphics software used by the Robotics Academy to create many of the step-by-step slideshows contained on this CD-Rom. To visit the MLCAD website, click here.

For Best Performance
1. Use a 32x or better CD-Rom drive.

2. Load the contents of the CD-Rom onto your PC or Mac.
(You will need about 550mb of drive space.)

General Operation Suggestions:
1.
Test the CD-Rom in different computers to see where it operates best.

2. Check with your school's "computer expert" for advice on which computer to use.

3. Select the newest computer in your classroom (which is usually the fastest).

4. Consider loading the CD-Rom's content directly on to your computer’s drive (see "For Best Performance")

5. If the program is open and operating, but pages load slowly, you should still be able to access all material. Try occasionally clicking the "refresh" button under the "view" menu in your browser for improved loading.

A note on printing Curriculum and Daily Lesson Plans (Mac and PC):
Clicking on the "Print" button in the 1 week, 3 week, 6 week, or 9 week Curriculum or Daily Lesson Plan pages launches Adode Acrobat Reader to enable printing. You can also edit and print these same documents in Microsoft Word by opening them from the Extra Resource Folders.
